11.3 Answer the following questions.

1. What does irrigation mean? Explain drip and sprinkler irrigation.
The supply of water to land or crops to help growth is call irrigation.
Drip Irrigation
Drip irrigation is a type of irrigation system by which wastage of water and nutrients is controlled by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants. This system distributes water through a network of pipes, valves, tubing, etc.
Sprinkle Irrigation
Sprinkle irrigation involves use of pipes to distribute water with the help of spray heads which moisten the whole soil surface.

2. Describe preparation of mango prickle?
Procedure
1. Take some unripened mangoes, cut them into pieces and make them dry by keeping in the sun.
2. Put the dried pieces of mangoes in salt water and keep it overnight.
3. Take the dried pieces of mangoes in jar and add vinegar solution (preservative) in to it.
4. Air tight the jar with lid.
5. After 15 days, we will observe pickles in the jar.

3. Write the preparation of onion prickle?
Procedure
1. Add sliced onions to a bowl. Pour enough boiling water to cover them. After one minute, drain water and transfer onion to a glass jar with a lid.
2. Heat cinnamon, cloves and the red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium flame for 3 to 5 minutes until fragrant.

11.4 Constructed Response Questions

1. Why should farmers implement rain water harvesting.
Farmers should implement rainwater harvesting because it helps store water for dry seasons, reduces dependence on groundwater, and prevents soil erosion. It also helps recharge wells and improves crop production. By using natural rainwater, farmers save money and conserve water for the future.

2. Which is the best technology to preserve meat, milk and fish products.
The best technology to preserve meat, milk, and fish is refrigeration and freezing. These methods slow down bacterial growth, keeping the products fresh for longer. Pasteurization is commonly used for milk to kill harmful bacteria. Vacuum sealing helps prevent spoilage by removing air. Canning is also effective for long-term storage.

3. How can technology enhance students learning.
Technology enhances students’ learning by making lessons more interesting with videos and interactive tools. It helps students find information quickly and allows them to learn at their own pace. Online quizzes and games make learning fun and help practice new skills.

4. What keeps our food fresh for long time.
Refrigeration and proper packaging keep our food fresh for a long time by slowing down the growth of bacteria and preventing spoilage.

11.5 Investigate

1. Find out how the technology helped during the pandemic COVID-19.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, technology helped by enabling online learning, remote work, and virtual healthcare. It also played a key role in tracking the virus, developing vaccines quickly, and connecting people through video calls and social media.
